These baby shoes almost kicked my butt
If you have been following my blog, you might have noticed that sewing has become one of my hobbies. I have enjoyed learning how to sew a few things, and have gained confidence in my skills. I think that I might even have become overconfident. I saw a free pattern for these baby shoes online a while back and saved it for when I was feeling more confidence in my skills. The day finally came when I decided to put my skills to the test. I can say that I am happy with how these shoes turned out, but along the way, I wasn't sure if I would make it.
This was my first time working with fusible interfacing and I fused the interfacing to the ironing cloth (oops). Recut, redo.
Then, I misread the pattern and topstitched too far over. Seamripper...but it left dots on the fabric, cleverly concealed by the rickrack. Finally, when attaching the top, I didn't cut the sole closely enough to the pattern, resulting in more seamripper action, recutting and redoing.
At least the shoes are finished, and they look normal, and some baby might even wear them. Also, now I know what not to do if I ever get overconfident and want to try this pattern again.

I was just checking out the blog and Kaitlyn came over and pointed to your masterpiece and stated, "These are pretty shoes". Passed the Kaitlyn test! Nice Job!
Very impressive!
Wow! I'm not one to go gaga over baby shoes, but those are pretty cool! Nice work.
