Growin' up

Here's my big boy discovering the joys of a double-sided cabinet. He is now almost 25 lbs and 33" long. He has grown quite a bit since his last checkup at one year. I did finally submit and let him get the chicken pox vaccine. I thought about not getting it and letting him just get it, but it is 2 weeks of pain (something I never actually went through) and 2 weeks of parents needing to find babysitters. So, we got that, but I decided not to get him vaccinated for Hep A. The doctor tried to strong arm me into getting it by saying how sick he could get, but I've done my research and Hep A is not a problem for toddlers. It is harder on teenagers and adults. So there! I'm not really worried about the autism problem as much as getting too many shots at once.

Good for you for not giving in. It's a load of crap anyways. He's looking cute!

I was looking at Peter's Baby Book, he never did get a Hep A till he went to China after graduating from UCB and he got his Hep B series at 10 years old.

You worry more about Hep A if you work in a hospital like me (needles and such) and eating at places where people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom.

I am glad Jacob is healthy and growing well...he just gets cuter and cuter..

I looked up when the Hep A vaccine became available...from 1995 , 1996 so that is why you all never got it as young children.

The worst is when you take your child to the emergency room with a head wound and the nurses insist that you have your unvaccinated child conform. And you say no, thanks. And then they give you the dirtiest scowl. And then you smile, and say, "But I'll be more than happy to pay 500 bucks to have you sew up that gaping hole!" And then they do. And then you get the bill, and nice life-long memories.
